(A personal tribute to my heart’s companion in travel and in love.)
It’s been seven years since Rich died.
As I recently told a friend, in some ways it feels like an eternity ago; in other ways, just yesterday.
I’ve had some adventures that he would have enjoyed … and others that he probably would not.
And I’ve got lots of photos to show for my adventures. Lots!
And So It Began
Rich gave me my first Olympus camera, and a few pointers on composition, in December of 2006.
I loved it so much that I bought an upgrade, and took it to New Zealand, a country he loved and urged me to visit “someday.” I did, for an entire month in February of 2013!
I added a Nikon, and then another, and found my passion for photography. That passion has been an important piece in rekindling my enthusiasm in life.
Dank je wel!
My life has changed a lot in the past seven years, and while I would never, ever want to relive those years I am grateful for the gifts this life experience has given me.
The following photos capture just a few of the highlights. (Believe me, it was hard to choose just a few!)
Thank you, Rich. You touched my life – and my heart – in countless ways, and I am forever changed. I love you.
“When the day shall come that we do part,” he said softly, and turned to look at me, “if my last words are not ‘I love you’-ye’ll ken it was because I didna have time.”

A beautiful tribute. Whenever I see a dragonfly, I think of Rich. I saw a beautiful black one yesterday, out of the blue, and it seemed random at the time. Now it makes sense. Hello Rich!

Yes, he shows up in the most random moments – he preferred to be a little unorthodox. =)

Made me cry – so poignant, raw, sweet and loving. Although on a happier note, I’m so proud of your photography skills, and am envious of your travels. You are one put-together lady!
